The most common cameras, but since Kodak and then "Rollei" manufactured a huge number of cameras for various brands and countries, this list may not be complete, but it is definitely far more complete than the ISO's list.
Lenses: The original rangefinder cameras were fixed focal length lenses, that would enable the photographer to focus the camera by eye, but with the aid of a rangefinder viewfinder. The lenses were not interchangeable, and no further lenses could be purchased. The lenses were much heavier than later lenses, which were not designed for professional use.
When Kodak introduced the 35mm "Kroll" rangefinder camera in 1931, it became the most widely used camera for news and other photography. The Kroll had the most features, including the first self-timer and the first automatic shutter release. Other features were interchangeable lenses, a self-developing color film cassette, a macro lens, an electronic flash (taken from a battery) and an electric drive for the film cassette. The serial number of the camera was printed on the back side of the flash box cover. Kodak stated that all early 35mm Kroll cameras have a "41/46" serial number on the flash box cover and a "41/42" serial number on the body.

Production codes
From 1932 onward, Kodak began using a production code on the camera. These codes were usually engraved on the rear cover of the camera. When the Kodak 35 and Kodak 35 Compulite cameras were introduced, the serial numbers had 3 digits. When the Kodak K-200, K-250, K-270 and Kodak K-500 cameras were introduced, the serial numbers had 4 digits. When the Kodak K-200B, Kodak K-250B, Kodak K-270B and Kodak K-500B cameras were introduced, the serial numbers had 5 digits.
